Day 1: Pickup from Dehradun – Drive to Sankri (210 km | 8–9 hours)
Pahadi Hikes organizes transport for trekkers from Dehradun Railway Station in the morning, departing between 6:00 to 7:00 AM. During the journey, there’s a 30-minute breakfast break at Kempty Falls. The drive continues alongside the Yamuna River, offering scenic mountain views. You’ll pass Mori, and after an hour, reach the Naitwar forest check post where ID verification (Aadhaar) is required. By evening, arrive in the peaceful village of Sankri, check in at Hotel Mountain View, freshen up, enjoy evening snacks on the terrace, and unwind. After a short evening walk, have dinner and rest for the night.
Day 2: Sankri to Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp (8 km | 6–7 hours trek)
Wake up to a peaceful mountain morning with tea/coffee at 6:00 AM and breakfast at 7:30 AM. Post briefing, the trek begins at 8:30 AM. You’ll spot Swargarohini peaks early on and pass through scenic Saur village with wooden houses and local homestays. The trail moves through spots like Goteka, Posla, and finally Juda Ka Talab. From there, continue through pine forests to reach Kedarkantha Base Camp. Enjoy hot lunch, followed by tea, snacks, and soup. Spend the evening soaking in views of Kedarkantha Peak before dinner and a restful night at camp.
Day 3: Base Camp to Kedarkantha Summit (3,800 m) – Trek to Dunda Thach (10.5 km | 6–7 hours)
The summit day starts early at 4:30 AM with a light breakfast. Using headlamps, begin your ascent in the dark to witness a magical sunrise from Kedarkantha summit. After a 1.5 km push to the top, enjoy views of peaks like Swargarohini, Black Peak, and Bandarpunch. At the summit, visit the temple of Lord Shiva and Ganesha, soak in the silence and take photos. Descend gradually and take the trail toward Dunda Thach, where you’ll set up camp and spend the night.
Day 4: Dunda Thach to Taloti Thach (11 km | 5–6 hours)
Today’s trek brings you to the beautiful Taloti Thach meadow. En route, you’ll visit a small shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, Parvati, and Ganesha. The trail has a few steep sections, but the view from Taloti is worth it — wide green pastures surrounded by Himalayan peaks. Set up camp and enjoy a peaceful night under the stars.
Day 5: Taloti Thach to Sarutal Camp (10 km | 5–6 hours)
The trail today alternates between gentle ascents and flat walks across meadows and ridges. You’ll reach Sarutal Lake, a glacial lake cradled in meadows with unmatched panoramic views of Black Peak, Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini range, and even the Bali Pass and Dhaldhar Kandi Pass routes. Set up camp near the lake and spend the evening soaking in the beauty.
Day 6: Sarutal to Taloti Thach (10 km | 5–6 hours)
After breakfast, retrace your steps back to Taloti Thach through the same ridge and meadow trails. Reach camp by evening and rest up for your descent the next day.
Day 7: Taloti Thach to Taluka (13 km | 6–7 hours trek) – Drive to Sankri (11 km | 1–2 hours)
Today’s trail descends through dense forest, so stay close to your guide as the trail can be confusing. Keep an eye out for langoors swinging through the trees. After passing a small village, you’ll reach Taluka, a road-connected hamlet with a few local shops. Vehicles will be arranged here to take you back to Sankri, where a hotel stay awaits.
Day 8: Drive from Sankri to Dehradun
After breakfast, depart from Sankri and drive back to Dehradun. Your journey with Pahadi Hikes concludes with memories of high-altitude lakes, mountain meadows, and the spirit of true adventure.
