Short Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Rishikesh to Guptkashi – Scenic 7–8 hour journey via Devprayag and Rudraprayag.
Day 2: Drive to Gaurikund and trek to Kedarnath – 16 km uphill trek through forested and scenic trails.
Day 3: Early morning darshan at Kedarnath, then trek back to Gaurikund and drive to Guptkashi.
Day 4: Drive back to Rishikesh – Relax and enjoy the return through Himalayan landscapes.

Kedarnath is one of the Char Dhams nestled gloriously in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. It is a famous Hindu pilgrimage destination where thousands of tourists and pilgrims come every year to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.

It is renowned for the Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, which is a scenic spot situated against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range.

The shrine stands tall and gracefully at an average height of 3,584 meters above sea level and lies in the midst of snow-capped Garhwal Himalayan ranges near the head of the beautiful Mandakini River.

The trek to Kedarnath is filled with serenity and rhododendron woods that line the path amidst the mighty Himalayas. It is a perfect destination for those who seek a peaceful blend of the tranquillity of the sacred shrine and the adventurous experience of a Himalayan trek.

Day 1: Rishikesh to Guptkashi | Leisure Day

Pickup from Tapovan, Rishikesh between 6–7 AM and drive to Guptkashi via Devprayag, Srinagar, and Rudraprayag. Along the way, witness the sacred confluence of the Alaknanda with the Bhagirathi and Mandakini rivers.

After reaching Guptkashi, check in at the hotel and relax. The rest of the day is free for leisure — a perfect opportunity to rest and prepare for the trek ahead amidst the serene Himalayan surroundings. Enjoy a peaceful overnight stay in Guptkashi.

Day 2: Kedarnath Trek

After breakfast, drive to Gaurikund — the starting point of the Kedarnath trek. Begin the 16 km trek to Kedarnath.

On the trail, you’ll come across scenic waterfalls and several resting points. You can also try Buransh juice at these stops — a local drink known to help with high-altitude oxygen issues.

Upon reaching Kedarnath, seek the blessings of Lord Shiva at the sacred Kedarnath Temple. Later, enjoy dinner and stay overnight in Kedarnath.

Day 3: Descend to Guptkashi

Start your day early and visit the Kedarnath shrine for darshan. Spend a few peaceful moments taking in the spiritual atmosphere and the majestic views of the Garhwal Himalayan range surrounding the temple — it truly feels like the abode of Shiva.

After darshan, have breakfast and begin your trek back to Gaurikund. From there, drive to Guptkashi. Upon arrival, have dinner and rest for the night.

Day 4: Leisure and Return to Rishikesh

Spend a relaxed morning, soaking in the natural beauty and quietude of the Himalayan surroundings.

By afternoon, begin your return journey to Rishikesh.
