Har Ki Dun Trek

Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Sankri (1,950 m)
The journey begins with a scenic drive from Dehradun to Sankri, a remote Himalayan village located 197 kilometers away. The 9–10 hour drive passes through the charming hill station of Mussoorie and the popular Kempty Falls, gradually transitioning into dense pine forests and the serene Yamuna valley. The final stretch of the route winds through the Govind National Park, offering glimpses of rich biodiversity and mountain streams. By evening, you’ll arrive in Sankri—nestled amidst verdant hills and known for its breathtaking views of Swargarohini peaks. After checking into a guesthouse, you can relax and explore the peaceful surroundings.

Day 2: Sankri to Dhatmeer (Drive), Trek to Pauni Garaat
After breakfast, a short drive takes you to Dhatmeer—a picturesque village surrounded by lush valleys. From here, the trek begins as you make your way through forests filled with chirping birds and the soothing sound of the Supin River. The trail is gentle and scenic, gradually leading you deeper into the wilderness. By late afternoon, you’ll reach Pauni Garaat—your riverside campsite for the night. Settle into your tents under a starlit sky, surrounded by the tranquility of nature.

Day 3: Trek from Pauni Garaat (3,024 m) to Har Ki Dun / Boslo Camp (3,430 m)
Today’s trail is filled with beauty as you ascend toward Har Ki Dun valley. The route takes you past vibrant wildflowers, open meadows, and thick woodlands, all the while accompanied by glimpses of snow-covered peaks. With every step, the grandeur of the Garhwal Himalayas becomes more evident. By afternoon, you’ll arrive at the Har Ki Dun base camp or Boslo, nestled in a breathtaking bowl-shaped valley. Set up camp and take in the serene alpine views as the golden light of dusk kisses the towering mountains.

Day 4: Explore Har Ki Dun Summit (3,566 m) and Morinda Tal (3,925 m), return to camp
This day marks the highlight of the trek. Starting early, you’ll ascend to the Har Ki Dun summit for panoramic views of majestic peaks including Swargarohini, Black Peak, and Hata Peak. After soaking in the views, continue your hike to the serene Morinda Tal—an alpine lake cradled by rugged mountains. The setting is nothing short of magical, perfect for photography or quiet reflection. After spending some time at the lake, retrace your steps back to the Har Ki Dun camp for another night under the stars.

Day 5: Trek from Har Ki Dun to Pauni Garaat via Osla Village
Bid farewell to the Har Ki Dun valley and begin your descent to Pauni Garaat. Along the way, you’ll pass through Osla, a charming Himalayan village known for its traditional wooden houses and the ancient Someshwar Temple, rich in local legend. Interact with the warm villagers and soak in the rustic lifestyle before continuing down to your familiar campsite at Pauni Garaat. It’s a shorter, relaxed day that allows you to enjoy the cultural flavors of the region.

Day 6: Trek to Dhatmeer, Drive back to Sankri
On the penultimate day, retrace the forest trail from Pauni Garaat back to Dhatmeer, where vehicles will be waiting to drive you to Sankri. It’s a reflective day—one to absorb the quiet beauty around you and relive the highlights of your journey. Once in Sankri, you can explore the local market, sample local cuisine, and spend your final night in the mountains in comfort.

Day 7: Drive from Sankri to Dehradun
After breakfast, begin the return drive to Dehradun, retracing the scenic route through forested hills and winding roads. You’ll arrive in the city by evening, carrying with you the memories of a remarkable adventure through one of the most beautiful valleys of the Garhwal Himalayas.
